How to make a perfect omelet

Omelets are a favorite breakfast food of mine. But how do you create them perfectly? Many different recipes and methods have failed to work for me. So today, I want to share some tips and tricks with you so you can make your own delicious and fluffy omelets every morning.

Before we start making omelets, let's remember that eggs are temperamental. Eggs must be purchased fresh, preferably organic, and kept chilled until ready for cooking. If they are not kept cold enough, the whites won’t form properly. The yolks will also break down too quickly and become runny. Your omelets will look strangely colored if this happens. If you're going to cook them immediately, it is best if the eggs are still warm.

You can also separate the egg before you add it to the pan. Because this could cause your omelet to become curdled, you don't want any yolk to be mixed with any white.

You could end up burning the bottom half of the egg if the egg is added directly to the heat source. Instead, heat the egg for 10 seconds in the microwave before placing it in the pan. The heat from the microwave cooks the egg just enough without overcooking it.

Next, let's talk about mixing the eggs. When you mix eggs together, you want to beat them well. To do this, grab the bowl of the mixer and turn it upside down. Now shake the bowl vigorously. The egg will be thoroughly mixed in the bowl as the air is whipped.

Now comes the fun part - pouring the milk into the mixture. Mix half of the milk with the eggs. Then fold the eggs in half into the remaining milk. Do not be alarmed if there are still egg streaks visible. Once the omelet flips, these streaks will disappear.

After you have folded the eggs, heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Once the oil has started to sizzle, turn the heat down to low. Once the oil has gotten hot, add 1/4 cup of butter and swirl it around so that the entire pan is coated. Open the lid and sprinkle salt on the pan. The salt will help to prevent the omelet's sticking to the pan.

Cover the pan once you have formed the omelet. Wait for the top to set. Flip the omelet by using a spatula. Cook the opposite side for another minute. Take the omelet out of the pan and immediately serve.

This recipe is best when used with whole milk. But, you can use skimmed milk as well.
